In April 2014 planning permission was granted to The Causeway Trust for a three-bedroom bungalow on the site of Apple Cottage.

By January 2015 permission was granted to the same organisation but this time the required building had changed to a Brethren’s meeting hall with parking area. Construction began in late 2018 and the building was open for religious worship in 2019.

The development retained much of the old apple orchard.
