Many of the gravestones are very worn and it has not yet been possible to give full inscriptions but we are still working on them! Where just a number or word is illegible, questions marks have been used. Otherwise ‘more inscription’ shows that we have more to do.


107  Nash, Charles

In ever loving memory of my dear mother Sarah Ann the beloved wife of John Covell who died February 5th 1911 aged 82 years

Also of Charles Nash son of the above who died in Canada aged 56 years


75  Nash, Sarah Elizabeth

In loving memory of Sarah the devoted wife of Charles Mead of Hauxton Mill who died March 11th 1915 aged 72 years

Heaven unites again the links that earth has broken for on earth so much is needed but in Heaven love is all

Also of Charles Mead husband of the above who died Sept 3rd 1920 aged 82 years

Life’s race well run now comes rest

Also Sarah Elizabeth Nash daughter of the above who died Oct 17th 1933 aged 65 years. Interred at Brockley


61  Northfield, Annie Lizzie & Ruth

In loving memory of Annie Lizzie Northfield who died September 22 1910 aged 42 years

Also Ruth sister of the above who entered into rest April 28 1951 aged 81 years

Until the day break and earth’s shadows flee away


51  Northfield, Charles & Hephzibah

In memory of Charles Northfield who departed this life April 22 1862 in the 19th year of his age

The powerful voice has called away a soul that once was here

Silent his tongue and cold his clay his eye can shed no tear

Also Hephzibah sister of the above who died April 27 1863 aged 11

Death has been here and borne away a sister from our side

just in the morning of her day as young as we she died


54  Northfield, Edward & Ruth

In memory of Edward Northfield who died April 9 1865 aged 18 years

When a few years are come then I shall go that journey from whence I shall not return

Also of Ruth Northfield who died March 28th 1867 aged 16 years

Her sun has gone down while it is yet day


49  Northfield, Hannah

In loving memory of Hannah Northfield who died February 10th 1897 aged 59 years

She is not dead but sleepeth

Oh call it not death it is life begun for the waters are passed the home is won

the ransomed spirit hath reached the shore where they weep and suffer and sin no more

She is safe in her Father’s house above in the place prepared by her Saviour’s love

to depart from a world of sin and strife and to be with Jesus – Yes – this is life

In memory of James Northfield died October 15th 1837 aged 58

If anyone inquire of his character it will be best known at the day of judgement


62  Northfield, James & Eliza

In loving memory of James Northfield who departed this life June 18 1894 aged 53 years

Nothing in this life simply thy cross

56  Northfield, James Frederick

In memory of James Frederick the beloved child of James and Elizabeth Northfield who died April 29 1873 aged 4 months

Possessed a sweet flower it bloomed for a while Its sweetness was wont every care to bruise but I cherished too

fondly that flower. Had I prized it less fondly it might have been mine but he who bestowed it in bounty divine took it

back, not in wrath but in love


55  Northfield, Mary Ann

In memory of Mary Ann Northfield who died March 3rd 1876 aged 20 years

Safe, safe upon the ever shining shore Sin. pain and death and sorrow all are o’er

Happy now and evermore washed in the blood of the Lamb


50  Northfield, Samuel & Samuel Charles

To the memory of Charles Northfield beloved husband of Emma Northfield who departed this this life Oct 16 1863 aged 24

Just as I am, Thy Love unknown has broken every barrier down;

Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come

Also Samuel Charles only son of the above died Jan 12 1864 aged 5 months and 14 days

Also Emma Burrell Northfield died Nov 25 1878 aged 40

In affectionate memory of Sarah Page the dearly beloved mother of Ann Stearn who died trusting

in Jesus Jan 4 1863 in her 69th year

In ever loving memory of a devoted husband William James Pask who entered into rest May 28th 1952

aged 84 years. Also Mary Elizabeth his beloved wife who died October 15th 1960 aged 88 years

In loving memory of Edith youngest daughter ofJoseph and Harriet Pearce

born 11 May 1858 died 26 March 1877


60  Pearce, Elizabeth

In loving memory of Frances Susannah Stockbridge died July 21 1916 aged 69

Father grant thy wearied one rest for evermore

Also Katherine Augusta died August 1879 aged 5 months, Gertrude died January 1890  18 months.

Cyril died March 3 1902 aged 18 years. Katherine Mary died January 20 1908 aged 22 years

Also Elizabeth Pearce died April 9 1929 interred at Folkestone sister of F S Stockbridge


58  Pearce, Harriet & Joseph Ellis

In loving remembrance of Harriet wife of Joseph Ellis Pearce of Hauxton Mills who died June 5 1881 aged 63 years

The children rise up and call her blessed

Joseph Ellis Pearce died Oct 2 1890 in his 81st year

To the memory of the infant son of John and Ann Philpin died September 1828 aged 1 month.

Also John their son died 6 July 1851 aged 4
