A socially distanced garden recital for Grandma and Grandpa
Rebecca Fitzgerald
One weekend when lock-down had eased and families were allowed to meet up again, Shaun’s parents came to have lunch with us in the garden. We made a big spread and decorated the table outside under the shade of the ancient Judas tree, which displays delicate pink blossom every Spring.
Jacob and Luke had prepared an on-line violin and piano recital for Trinity college music society https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=267922381119532 and they thought it would be nice to treat Grandma and Grandpa to a personal rendition. As our piano is by the French doors of our living room we all sat in the garden, while they were just inside to play and the sound carried outside.
The photograph tells a story. You can see that Grandma is wearing a sports cap to keep the hair out of her eyes as hairdressers had been closed for months. You will also see that we are sitting in socially distanced groups.
It was a hot Spring day and the garden was lovely, and we all felt very blessed to be enjoying company of family again and for the gift of music to be shared.
